Support for the Inlight Charity Foundation

Malawi is ranked 191 out of 200 countries and is among the poorest democracies globally. The AIDS rate is alarmingly high at around 18%.

To provide aid specifically to widows and orphans, the Inlight Charity Foundation was founded by Raphael Katondo. Having grown up as a half-orphan in Malawi, Raphael understands firsthand what it means to take responsibility for oneself, siblings, and a destitute mother from a young age. His mission is to give children hope. We support Raphael by donating gently used children’s clothing and sewing machines, which are collected and regularly sent to Malawi. The main beneficiaries are children aged 0 to 18 and widows who are building their own sewing businesses. The goal is for the foundation to eventually become independent of donations. However, achieving this is a long road, and current contributions are just a small step.

In parallel, a school building is under construction to provide children with access to education and pave the way for a brighter future.

Our involvement with the Inlight Charity Foundation began through our colleague Martin Mechelke. His daughter spent several months in Malawi, bringing Martin into contact with one of the founders. He has already personally sent packages to this home. In return, he has received photos of happy children, ensuring donors that their contributions have reached their destination.

Recently, another package was sent to Malawi, and this time, it-motive covered the costs, as we firmly believe in the foundation’s work.
